Tilfi at Raw Collaborative

At Raw Collaborative, Tilfi presented sculptural objects that chart a compelling evolution. On view from February 27 - March 1, 2026, at Kolkata Centre for Creativity (KCC), the exhibit was an exploration of material as it moves from perceived rigidity toward a state of quiet fluidity. Tracing a journey from the pliancy of silk to the enduring resolve of metal, the showcase reflected our continued inquiry into the relationship between material, process, and artistry.

Conceived as an interdisciplinary presentation, the presentation extends a visual vocabulary long honed in Banarasi weaving into new media and material expressions. Motifs and narrative frameworks migrate from textile to metal, carrying with them the intricacy and symbolism that define Tilfi’s design language.

Select brass collectibles drew upon storied traditions such as Shikargah, where dynamic scenes of flora and fauna are rendered in poised suspension. Other pieces emerged as contemplative, self-contained worlds, informed by mythological narratives that anchor Banaras to its ancient and cultural beginnings.

With new lighting objects and furniture designs, we extend this foray into the Banarasi design vocabulary via brass, while remaining deeply grounded in material intelligence and artisanal heritage. From the precision of repoussé metalwork to the tactile warmth of metal, each creation embodied a dialogue between craft and object.
