Inspired by the frescoes of ancient Roman villas, Alba translates their aged surfaces and ornamental language into Katan with textured gheecha silk. Its muted olive-green ground is framed by a terracotta-red border, woven with a continuous pattern of curling, circular forms in kadhua, recalling the decorative borders of Roman interiors. The pallu brings together terracotta and brown bands with stylised botanical motifs, adding depth, while the textured silk brings an organic, weathered quality to the surface.
-
Colour- A beautiful Olive Green
-
Technique- An enduring Kadhua weave. This elaborate and laborious technique involves hand-weaving each motif separately. It takes longer on the handloom, but makes a more robust pattern which stands out on the fabric
-
Fabric- Pure Katan Silk
-
Speciality-Woven with Gheecha, a unique textured raw silk, the saree uses uneven, tactile yarns in extra-weft patterning to create an organic, earthy surface distinct from the polished richness of traditional zari brocades.
-
Tilfi Promise-Pure. Handloom. Banaras.
-
Note - The saree comes with its own blouse piece. The model is wearing a separate blouse for styling purposes.
Since this product is handwoven, there might be slight irregularities. But don't you think these add to the singular charm of a handloom beauty?
