This heirloom Banarasi saree depicts the moon's phases through crescents, stars, and woven foliage. The pallu features two lions with encircled crescent moons surrounded by wrapping leaves and blossoms, accented with Roopa Sona. Across the body, a rhythmic aadha jaal pattern of repeating crescents and stars is woven with real zari. At the pallu, a pair of mirrored lions with curling tails sits within delicate floral motifs. This architectural design continues through the koniya and borders with intricate crescent and floral forms.
Colour: A bold Black
Technique:An enduring Kadwa weave. The elaborate and laborious Kadwa (Kadhua) technique involves hand-weaving each motif separately. It takes longer on the handloom, but makes a more robust pattern, which stands out on the fabric.
Fabric: Pure Katan Silk
Collection Note: At the heart of the collection is the chand booti, one of the most heritage-rich motifs of Banarasi weaving. The collection explores a poetic duality, bringing soft, atmospheric lunar imagery to life through the exacting craftsmanship and enduring discipline of traditional handloom artistry.
Tilfi Promise: Pure. Handloom. Banaras.
Note: The saree comes with its own blouse piece. The model is wearing a separate blouse for styling purposes. The saree comes finished with fall facing and trims.
Since this product is handwoven, there might be slight irregularities. But don't you think these add to the singular charm of a handloom beauty?
