A study in regal ornament, Tillotama draws from the mythical vocabulary of Indian temple art. The Yali, symbolising strength and protection, anchors the design, while Kirti Mukha, a fierce face associated with divine protection, adorns the borders. Across the satin ground, an intricate jaal of interlocking forms creates a richly layered composition, enriched with jewel-like accents. The pallu brings the Yali into focus amid scrolling forms and ornate embellishments, while the borders feature Kirti Mukhas in a rhythmic arrangement. Rendered in satin Kadhua, the saree unites mythological iconography with the opulence of temple ornamentation.

Color: An enduring shade of Grey, Roopa Sona zari
-
Technique: An enduring Kadwa weave and the fine Meenakari technique. The elaborate and laborious Kadwa (Kadhua) technique involves hand-weaving each motif separately. It takes longer on the handloom, but makes a more robust pattern, which stands out on the fabric. Meenakari involves the painstaking addition of supplementary coloured resham threads during the hand-weaving process.

Collection Note:Tilfi’s Bridal Collection looks to the sculptural world of the Hoysala temples of Belur, drawing inspiration from the Madanika, the celestial maiden celebrated for her movement, adornment and feminine presence. Inspired by her idealised beauty and the poetry of Hoysala sculpture, Bridal 2026 translates this visual language through Banarasi textiles and hand-worked metal, bringing together the fluidity of silk and the sculptural presence of brass in a new expression of bridal adornment.
