Nazaara

Inspired by Mughal miniature art, Nazaara is a tribute to one of Banaras’ oldest and most complex weaving traditions, the Rangkat. The saree features four real zari-laced silk weft colours, each changing every inch across the fabric, meticulously interlocked to form an elaborate jaal of roses, tulips, poppies, and irises. Its creation required over 115 shuttles and six months of focused weaving.Woven using the kadhwa technique for added texture and clarity in patterning, and framed with arabesque floral borders and an inventive buta-style pallu, Nazaara is a keepsake of heritage, a monument of patience, and a heartfelt exchange between the hands that weave and the hearts that wear.

• Color - Multiple delicate colours, dusted lavenders and pistachios
• Technique - An enduring Kadwa weave and exquisite Rangkat weave. The elaborate and laborious Kadwa (Kadhua) technique involves hand-weaving each motif separately. It takes longer on the handloom, but makes a more robust pattern, which stands out on the fabric. Rangkat is a handloom technique which is on the verge of disappearing. Only a handful of weavers remain that can weave a true Rangkat. This exquisite and time-intensive technique can be identified by the sharp changes in the base colours of the fabric. This requires multiple changes in the warp and the weft and produces a beautiful multicoloured garment.
