Colours of India
A celebratory masterpiece! This vivid and festive Banarasi handloom classic presents the confluence of exquisite weaving techniques and patterns. It has a beautiful patli Rangkat pattern adorned with diagonal jaals in roopa sona zari and glorious koniyas. An Indian textile treasure!
-
Color - Multiple rich and vibrant colours
-
Technique - An enduring Kadwa weave. This elaborate and laborious technique involves hand-weaving each motif separately. It takes longer on the handloom, but makes a more robust pattern which stands out on the fabric.
-
Fabric - Soft as butter, pure Katan silk
-
Speciality - Rangkat is a handloom technique which is on the verge of disappearing. Only a handful of weavers remain that can weave a true Rangkat. This exquisite and time-intensive technique can be identified by the sharp changes in the base colours of the fabric. This requires multiple changes in the warp and the weft and produces a beautiful multicoloured garment.
