This National Handloom Day, our new creations Dashāshva draw from the city's most celebrated and lively Dashashwamedh ghats, translating its imagery into the language of the handloom. At its heart are 10 horses, each rendered in a different gesture, some poised, some in motion, each with its own character and rhythm. The rare Dampach style gives these figures an unusual painterly quality, allowing tonal variation and subtle shifts in expression to emerge entirely through the weave.

A one-of-a-kind creation, Dashāshva is a tribute to Banaras on Handloom Day, drawing from the city’s sacred geography and the visual language that has evolved around it.

Dashāshva embodies what we believe the Banarasi handloom can hold. A landscape, a story, a way of seeing Banaras, translated entirely through the knowledge of the loom. Its complexity does not come from placing a story onto the textile, but from discovering how that story can exist within the weave itself.
