Tilfi’s Rose Garden in Varanasi
The Voice of Fashion
As handloom label Tilfi launches its Gulab Bari sari collection, CEO Aditi Chand talks about its design language and crafts-first approach
Rose—the flower, colour and mood—is everywhere on a bajra floating down the Ganges. Golden thaals are heaped with petals. The colour is worn on a sash, dupatta and sari. The song and bellow of the harmonium of a city singer draws out the longing and blush of a woman thinking of her partner—it’s a morning in Varanasi tied with a pink bow. Aditi Chand, CEO of the luxe handloom label, Tilfi, is on the boat greeting her guests in a Swetambari jamdani delicately punctuated with florals for Gulab Bari, a post-Holi event born in the last Nawab of Awadh, Wajed Ali Shah’s court. It is also the name of her latest sari collection in georgette.
