“Tilfi is a technique where the yarn runs continuously without a break. We only wanted to do pure natural textiles handmade in Varanasi,” says Aditi Chand, CEO and co-founder of the Varanasi-headquartered handloom label Tilfi. Chandi s married to Udit Khanna, whose family has been in the production and wholesale of Banarasi textiles for over five decades, while their actual business in textiles goes back over a century. Along with Udit’s brother Ujjwal, the trio launched Tilfi online five years back.
