Black & White
OurBlack & White collection is the latest evolution within Tilfi’s Antinomyuniverse. Building on Antinomy’s foundation of craft perfection and contemporary abstraction, this new collection explores the power of an elemental palette to reimagine minimalism as something both nuanced and vibrant. While Antinomy has always been an expression of uncompromised creativity,Black & White strips the visual language to its most essential form. The result is a collection defined by architectural clarity that moves with ease, where simplicity is not an absence of detail, but a mastery of it. These creations are form-responding, not imposing, and explore a delicate harmony of opposites, designed for lives that transition seamlessly between cultural and professional spaces. Sarees are reimagined through impeccably tailored forms that embody a dynamic movement of sophistication, while the stark monochromatic palette serves as a modern testament to the versatility of Banarasi craftsmanship.
Beyond the visual abstraction lies a nuanced command of the loom. Eschewing traditional pattern repeats, the collection features a continuous, non-repeating composition across the saree - a feat of complex graphing and precise loom-setting that allows the design to unfold with uninterrupted energy. Thus, every creation reflects a purposeful and practiced movement, ensuring the integrity of the craft is never compromised by the boldness of the abstraction. This focused collection is composed of three meticulously crafted sarees and four blouses, each in the fluid yet structural embrace of pure Katan Silk, realised in the Cutwork weaving technique.
Antinomy has evolved into more than a collection; it is a distinct visual language for Tilfi. With the introduction ofBlack & White, that language finds new clarity.
Cubism
Following the disciplined precision of theBlack & White collection, the forthcoming chapter in Tilfi’s Antinomy universe isCubism. While previous explorations within Antinomy focused on the sharp, composed exterior of the modern muse,Cubism turns the gaze inward, seeking to deconstruct the innermost layers of personality that lie beneath a polished surface. This collection moves beyond her singular, composed image to reveal a persona built from many interesting, sometimes fragmented, facets.
At the heart of this collection lies the Calla Lily—a flower traditionally synonymous with grace and lyrical softness. However, through the lens of Cubist art, we reimagine this organic form as a series of geometric challenges. The pieces in this collection break down the lily’s form: its inner folds, sharp edges, and elusive shadows, which in turn are reconstructed into an entirely new creative expression. By applying a structured, geometric treatment to a symbol of softness, the collection mirrors the muse’s own ability to balance intellect with instinct. The designs lean into unpredictability, using fragmentation to reconcile the paradoxes the muse carries. This expansive exploration of form and color is presented through a curated selection of three saree designs, each presented in three evocative colorways, and two geometric scarf designs, offered in three colorways each. With blouses thoughtfully structured in Silk rib, featuring refined detailing in Habutai Silk. Realised in Silk Twill, the collection utilises the fabric’s distinct diagonal weave to provide a structured yet fluid drape, perfectly capturing the sharp lines of the Cubist aesthetic.
Within the Antinomy universe, Cubism represents a shift from the architectural to the psychological. It is a visual language for those who find beauty in the unconventional. Following the stark clarity of Black & White, this release invites the muse to embrace their own multifaceted nature. Cubism positions Banarasi craftsmanship not just as a medium of tradition, but as a tool for modern, abstract storytelling.
